Brian C. Long

Co-Founder and Principal

October 1971 – June 2023

In every professional pursuit, our team is guided by the enduring legacy of our friend, co-founder, and Principal, Brian Long. Through his leadership and his example, Brian gave shape to the character of our team, and his memory remains a beacon that illuminates our path.

Throughout his years in the real estate industry, Brian personified the values to which our team aspires and is committed to upholding. Raised in a family of real estate professionals, Brian began his real estate career in the late 1990’s, learning the business from his aunt, Susanne Long McInerney, who taught him something he would never forget: Treat everyone with respect and it will come back to you tenfold. For Brian, it did.

Over the course of his 25-year career, Brian brought his wit, empathy, and problem solving skills to every client and partnership he ever served. Brian became known throughout Greater Boston as an inspirational collaborator and charismatic dealmaker. As an agent, Brian helped his clients close over $365 million in sales to achieve their real estate goals. All told, Brian served over 500 clients and partners throughout his career.

Much more important to Brian than the sales volume he produced, though, were the relationships he formed. To his clients, Brian was not just a consummate professional and empathetic advocate; he became a friend who earned their trust and fierce loyalty through his empathy, honesty, and frankness–mixed with his trademark humor. He had a similar impact on his colleagues and the other agents in the community with whom he crossed paths, and he skillfully created win-win solutions, no matter the obstacles.

The joyfulness and positivity that Brian brought to his business were all the more remarkable because of the long and fierce battle he fought against cystic fibrosis. As a child, his doctors did not expect Brian to survive past his teenage years and Brian became an ambassador for the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In 1979, Brian was the first ever poster child to be featured by the Massachusetts Cystic Fibrosis Association and, in the years that followed, Brian championed cystic fibrosis research and courageously volunteered for clinical studies. He and his family also helped to start the Walk to Cure CF and countless other fundraisers to raise millions of dollars for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In 2008, Brian was the grateful recipient of a life-extending double lung transplant.

In 2018, Brian co-founded our team with Principals Robin Kelly, Nathan Ingham, and Travers Peterson. His radiant energy and leadership brought out the best in everyone around him, and as The Team grew, Brian delighted in mentoring new team members and sharing the values that guided him in creating an extraordinary career and life.

Brian lost his battle with cystic fibrosis in 2023 but his legacy endures within us. As we continue to build upon the foundation he helped to lay, we carry his values and spirit as guiding lights in our professional journey and in the relationships we cultivate. In honoring Brian, we are committed to embodying the qualities that made him an exceptional co-founder and an inspirational figure to us all.
